Died while shoveling snow in front of his grocery store on East Miller street. He had been totally blind for fifteen years, losing one eye while working as a machinist at Ide's foundry as a young man. Some years later he lost the use of his other eye. He did not permit his blindness from making a success in life. In Oct. 1914 he opened his grocery store. In July 1924 he erected a new store and an apartment building at 700 East Miller where he had since been engaged in business. In his operation of business, Mrs. Morgan served as an able assistant. A lifelong Springfield resident, everyone in the north end of the city knew "Irv" Morgan. Sympathetic in nature, Mr. Morgan was quick to come to the relief of those in distress. He never forgot a friend, and was solicitous of the welfare of others.

Mr. Morgan was a son of the late Milton C. and Sarah Morgan. He was educated in the public schools. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Green Morgan, whom he married in 1902; son Clifford M. Morgan; daughter Mrs. Leslie Marfell; four grandchildren.
