Cyrus Custer, 67, a former resident of this city, died Tuesday in New York City, where he was employed as caretaker of a large apartment building. He had been in poor health for some time.

Mr. Custer was born in Johnstown December 23, 1870, a son of the late Henry and Phoebe (Huey) Custer, Surviving are three children -- Mrs. Daisy Cassler of rear 330 Horner Street, Mrs. Patricia Nagrant of 141½ Horner Street and James Custer, also of Horner Street.

The deceased was a brother of Mrs. Rosanna Gramling and Elizabeth Custer of South Fork, U.G. Custer of Geistown and A.M. Custer of 336 Strayer Street, Dale.

Two children, Virginia and C.J. Custer, and the following brothers and sisters preceded him in death: Jacob, Ezra, Martha, William, Aaron, Ella and Samuel Custer. His wife expired August 8, 1934.

James Custer, the deceased's son, left yesterday for New York City to take charge of the body, now at the Bellevue Hospital in that city.

The body will be brought here to the Stephen J. Conway funeral home. Tentative arrangements call for burial to take place from the home of the deceased's sister, Elizabeth Custer of South Fork. Interment probably will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
