Pedestrian killed after walking into traffic
Thursday, July 26, 2007

Dyersburg Regional Medical Center ambulance personnel and Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers ready to remove the body of Marshall Williams from the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 51 south of Dyersburg on Wednesday night.

A man was killed after apparently walking into traffic on U.S. Highway 51 south of Dyersburg on Wednesday night.

Marshall Williams, 56, was killed at about 9:23 p.m., as seven 911 calls from motorists reported a male subject lying the roadway in front of the Burks Beverage plant. At least one caller reported she had hit the man, and a tractor-trailer rig was reported to have run over Williams.

The southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 51 were blocked until shortly before midnight, when Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers cleared the scene. The fatality report was not available from the patrol as of press time today.
