EARTH — Prayer vigil for Miguel R. Acevedo Sr., 84, of Earth will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Earth.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the same church with the Rev. Pat Maher of Littlefield officiating.

Burial will be in Earth Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home of Earth.

He died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002.

He was born July 5, 1918, in McNeil. He married Ricarda Cadena on March 28, 1940, in Mexico. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and a deacon for 25 years. He also served on the church council. He worked as a farm laborer. He moved from Bertram to Earth in 1960.

A son, Pedro Acevedo, died in 1976.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Mike Jr. of San Jose, Calif., and Lupe A. and Jose Luis, both of Littlefield; four daughters, Elisa Moreno of Lubbock, Mary Lou Lumbrera and Alice Aguilar, both of Dimmitt, and Rosemary Monreal of Earth; two sisters, Juanita Riojas of Georgetown and Catarina Torres of McAllen; a brother, Feliciano Acevedo of Donna; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
