Ray Everett Bailey, 87, of Kilbourne, Illinois died May 1, 1983 in Mason District Hospital, Havana, Illinois.

Born June 26, 1895, in Olney, Illinois to Balsam Marion and Martha Adeline (Misner) Bailey, he married Ruby Clarkson on September 21, 1928 in Peoria, Illinois. She died October 15, 1980.

He was a retired carpenter.

Surviving are five sons: Harold of St. Louis, Missouri, James of Hastings, Florida, Charles of Bath, Illinois, Paul of Lacon, Illinois and Douglas in Florida; and one daughter Esther Phegley of Eldon, Missouri.

Also surviving are one brother Harley of Kilbourne, Illinois and four sisters, Nellie Matthews of Forest City, Hazel (Dolph) Bland of Morton, Illinois, Dorothy (Bernard) Bland of Greenup and Lillie (James) Stacey of Illiopolis, Illinois.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Charles, Riley Corbett, Robert Herman and two infant brothers and two sisters, Hattie in infancy and Lela Ann Locke. He was also predeceased by one grandson, Larry K. Bailey.

Services were held May 5, 1983 in Hurley Funeral Home.
Burial was in Kilbourne Cemetery.
