After his wife's death the family moved to Kentucky and settled at Martin's Station on the banks of Stoner Creek.
In 1780, Martin's Station came under attack and the occupants were ordered into service under the command of Captain Charles Gatliff. In June of 1780 it was attacked again by British Captain Henry Byrd and the Indians, most of the pioneers of Martin's Station were killed or captured and marched to British held Detroit.
Peter's son Silas stated his father was killed 2 or 3 days before the second attack by the British and Indians.
