In 1873 she married John Mountain Rowsell (1848-1918), a fisherman, of nearby Pushthrough. Eight children were born in Pushthrough, with a ninth being born in Harrington Harbour after the family moved here in 1894.
While most of their children stayed in Harrington, son Albert moved to Montreal and daughter Jessie married a local, William Wallace Bobbitt, and moved to Halifax, NS.
Her husband John died in 1918 while being treated her a medical condition in Ontario. Mary lived with her son Henry until her death in 1935.
