Anthony Petaccia, 44, ex-city, county leader

Anthony A Petaccia, former Monessen City councilman and Westmoreland County Director of finances, of 49 Overhill Drive, Monessen, died Friday May 3, 1985 at 6:10 a.m. in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Mr. Petaccia was 44. he had served eight years as a city councilman in Monessen. He had served as director of finances with council and was instrumental in preparing the city's annual budgets.
He was born Nov. 16, 1940 in North Charleroi, a son of Alexander and Mary (?) Petaccia. both of whom survive.
A former Westmoreland County (?) employed as the county controllers office as director of finances.
He was a graduate of Monessen High School and Waynesburg College where he completed extension courses in consumer finance and (?)
He was graduated from the Dale Carnegie Course in Pittsburgh and had completed various seminars on law enforcement, drug rehabilitation, crime prevention and education and government.
Mr. Petaccia was a former auditor and investigator for Westmoreland county and had served as manager of the C.L.E. Finance and consumer Discount Company.
Active in community affairs Mr. Petaccia was a recipient of the Joseph Simomn Award from United Way of the Mon Valley and he was honored as top salesman while employed with the Scott and Fetzer Company.
He was a member of St. Cajetan Roman Catholic Church, BPO Elks Lodge No. 773, the Sons of Italy and The Italian Society of Mutual Aid. all of Monessen.
Mr. Petaccia was a member of the Bishop Phelan Assembly. Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.
He had been a lifelong resident of Monessen.
