SEPTEMBER 11, 1936 – JANUARY 6, 2022

Gerald Salac, age 85, of San Jose, CA, passed away on January 6, 2022 in Santa Clara, CA.
A combined visitation for Jerry and Gloria will be Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Room A. Gerald (Jerry) was born in Merced to Maximo and Rosalia Salac on September 11, 1936. He graduated from Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Saint Mary's of California, Jerry served in the Army. He then married Gloria on October 25, 1958 in St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco. He was a Juvenile Probation Officer for Santa Clara County for thirty six years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family at Lake Tahoe, the beach, houseboating, camping, and playing league volleyball with his sons and brothers. Jerry loved teaching them to golf, fish, waterski, snow ski, and play blackjack. "Ta-da" was heard each time he walked into the house after a long day at work.

Jerry, Gloria, and his brother Ray had season tickets for the San Francisco 49ers from when the team played in Kesar Stadium and Candlestick until they moved to Santa Clara. He had mini packs with his sons to the Golden State Warriors and loved watching the San Francisco Giants. He and Gloria would often attend college basketball and Stanford women's volleyball games. On his off Fridays, Jerry could be found on the golf course with the County Judges and co-workers. During the 16 years his children attended Most Holy Trinity School, Jerry served his community in many capacities; Athletic Director, coach of multiple sport teams (even if his children were not on the team) and director of CYO. The Salacs have been parishioners of Most Holy Trinity Church since 1968.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Raymond, Daniel, Dorothy, Andrea, and Larry, and his grandsons David and Colton. {Surviving relatives omitted for privacy].
