Darlene Yvonne Mann Berg, 76, joined the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007. Darlene was born in Hoquiam, on Aug. 27, 1931, to Roy and Bernice (Howick) Mann. She had lived in Aberdeen all of her life and had attended Aberdeen schools.

She found her beloved prince, Claremont Berg, on May 23, 1953. She was a proud mother of four children, Ron Berg, Clarice (Berg) and Pat Cady of Aberdeen, Dave and Sheri Berg of Hoquiam, and Carlene (Berg) and Ron Opena of Olympia; grandmother of 10, Samantha (Berg) and Randy Rogers, Julie (Berg) and Alex Thompson, Ethan and Michael Cady, Victor and Erin Dalgord, Carli Nicolas, Jennifer Berg, Monique (Opena) and Justiin Wiedrich, Justin, Brandon and Nicolas Opena; great-grandmother to four, Kaylie, Malia, Jacob, Peyton, and one on the way. Darlene also leaves behind her sisters, Betty (Mann) Murphy and Roylene Hollingsworth both of Olympia and Elna (Berg) Fuchs. She was preceded in death by sisters, Joyce (Mann) Bogdanovich and a twin sister, Charlene Viola Mann, who died as a child.

Darlene was an avid Mariner's sports fan and you'd often hear her screams at the tv and words "Uff Da Mia". She was a member of the Aberdeen Eagles Auxiliary. Her joys in life were watching ice skating and gardening in the yard.

Her family was the greatest joy in her life and her memory will live on with those who knew her. We wish her well on her journey to Heaven and we know she is at peace with those who have passed before her. She will now serve as our angel until we join her.

Visitation will be at the chapel at Fern Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, from 1-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. Burial will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery of Aberdeen.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 202, Aberdeen, WA 98520 or the Alzheimer's Association, Puget Sound Chapter, 120 Northgate Plaza, Suite 316, Seattle, WA 98125
