He built a career in general contracting before joining the U.S. Postal Service from which he retired in 2016. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathy Lynn Payne Dooley; brother, C R Dooley, Jr.; and sisters, Ruby Dooley Davis* and Linda Dooley Griffin. Family members include his daughters and a son-in-law, Susan Margaret Justice of Lawrenceville, GA, and Joy and Jamie Sorrells of Lynn Haven, FL; son, Jay Richard Dooley of Toccoa; grandchildren, Erica Dooley, Lindsey Sorrells Conner, Kaitlyn Harrell, Haley Harrell, McKenna Dooley, Keeley Sorrells, and Madison Dooley; brothers, Charles Dooley, David Dooley, and Mike Dooley; and sisters, Pat Dooley Sayer, Ann Dooley Hollobaugh, Judy Dooley Canady, and June Dooley Ray.
