Betty Lou Mallery, 87, of rural LaFayette, died Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her home.

Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in LaFayette Cemetery.

She was born June 5, 1934 in Kewanee, the daughter of Stanley Eugene and Ellen M. (Braden) Oldeen. She married Harry Mallery on November 17, 1956 per Harry's request since that would be after the crops were out.
Survivors include her husband of LaFayette, two sons, Brian Mallery (Tina Hufford) of LaFayette and Bruce (Beth) Kuster of Shelton, WA, a brother, Melvin (Doris) Oldeen of Manteca, CA, six grandchildren; Cheyenne Mallery (Ryan) Rocker, Braden, Nolan and Delaney Mallery and Shawn and Jeffery Kuster, eight great grandchildren; Brijett, Drake, Cayleigh, Michael, Jordan, Carley, Hayley and Tyler and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, LeRoy Oldeen and her daughter, Lori Mallery.

Betty was educated in Kewanee graduating in 1952 as the Salutatorian. She worked as a legal secretary for 30 years. She loved reading and taking her family on vacations and visiting her brothers and their families and especially going to Las Vegas with Harry to spend time with her daughter, Lori and later to Laughlin, NV visiting retired friends. Betty was able to give her grandchildren the appreciation of reading, learning and education while caring for them. Her greatest love was her children. In her last month's her best moments were when a child or infant entered the room. It instantly and always brought a smile to her face and loving words from her heart.
