A. D. Brown
Dallas Morning News, The (TX) - Tuesday, August 14, 2012
Dallas, TX
A.D. Brown went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 11, 2012. He was born November 20, 1925 in Blevins, Arkansas to Jesse and Ruth Brown. The youngest of four boys, he developed his love for music by singing in his family's gospel quartet. He married Monna Feagins Brown, on August 23, 1958 and together they modeled a life of love, devotion and service to others. A.D. retired from Steakley Chevrolet, where he was known as the car doctor. He served as a deacon and in numerous Sunday School leadership roles during his 50 plus years at Wilshire Baptist Church. A.D placed his commitment to God and his family above all else. He was a man of integrity who laughed often, and who always had a song in his heart and a kind word for others. He taught us to always look to the Lord for guidance, and we find peace and strength in his legacy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Monna, his daughter Denise Thompson and her husband Paul of Coppell and his son Alan Brown and his wife Lisa of Tupelo, MS. He will be greatly missed by the joys of his life - his five grandchildren - Taylor and Travis Thompson and Caroline, Adam and Jake Brown. A.D. is also survived by his brother, Alvin Brown of Bethany, OK, his nephews Dr. Kent Brown of Scottsdale, AZ and Dr. Dean Brown of Yukon, OK and by numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews and cherished friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Wilshire Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 with Dr. George Mason and Neal Jeffrey officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of "Charlie's Angels" Sunday School class. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Wilshire Baptist Church (4316 Abrams Road, Dallas, TX 75214).
