Funeral services for James W. McGee, 87, of Sweetwater will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Ensminger officiating. Burial will follow in Sweetwater Cemetery with military honor guard, under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
He died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at his residence.
He was born on April 23, 1920, in North Zulch, Texas. He was married to Gusta Goettsche Montgomery on Oct. 8, 1983, in Harris County in Texas. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and worked for Drillco in Houston as a master craftsman for many years before retiring. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Gusta McGee of Sweetwater; three sons, Frank Denena of Frankston, Texas, Lee Montgomery of Muldrow, Okla. and Murl Montgomery of Sweetwater; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Frank McGee of Houston, Ralph McGee of Houston and Gene McGee of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by one son, James McGee, Jr., and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice, 1682 Hickory, Abilene Texas 79601.
