Obituary -
Guy Warren Hughes, age 81, has gone to be with his Savior and friend, Jesus Christ. Hughes passed away at his home on the Happy H Ranch in Comfort, Texas on October 16, 2008. Hughes was born April 9, 1927, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Guy Hughes and Elizabeth Warren Hughes. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Hughes served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Corp of Engineers. He was active at Gaddis Memorial United Methodist Church in Comfort, and very involved in the Walk to Emmaus and Kairos Prison Ministries. He proudly served as President of the San Antonio Board of Realtors in 1968 and was a member of the Greater San Antonio Builders Association and the Freemasons, where he earned his 50-year plaque at Albert Pike Masonic Lodge No. 1169. Hap Hughes was a friend to all with his big heart and jovial sense of humor. He enjoyed Longhorn football, travel, and golf. A Celebration of Life for Guy Hap Hughes will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at 4:00 pm at Gaddis Memorial United Methodist Church in Comfort with the Rev. Jason Teague officiating.
