It is with deepest sadness that we announce the death of our sweet mother, Elizabeth J. Locallo, beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Locallo, on January 22, 2022, at the age of 97. She is survived by her loving children, Diana Vera, (Arturo) Joseph Jr., (Kristine), John, and Beth Allegretti, (Ed); her devoted grandchildren, Joseph Locallo III (Catie), Jenna Kay (Michael), Art Vera (Josephine), Carlos Vera (Natalia) and Eddie Allegretti; her loving great grandchildren, Jack, Tom, Esther, Lucy, Jubilee, Ezekiel, Vincenzo, Victor, and Mackenzie; and many loving nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Elizabeth.

Last member of a loving Czech family, she was born in Chicago on April 11, 1924, to her parents, Josef Bidlo and Marie Eberl. She was the fifth child, the sister of Marie, Joseph, Hilda, Emily, Mildred, and William. Elizabeth grew up with her family on Belden Avenue in Lincoln Park. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Knickerbocker School, a senior class officer at Waller High School and received an associate degree in business from DePaul University. She met her loving husband, Joe, in high school and celebrated 76 years of marriage.

Elizabeth was a wonderful cook who adorned our table with many traditional Bohemian recipes. Among our favorites was her dinner of pork and potato dumplings, followed by a delicious plum cake for dessert. She was a great cheerleader for her children, attending countless events, encouraging participation in sports, music and most importantly education. From a Cub Scout Den Mother to joining the mothers' club at Good Counsel High School, it was another way of her keeping close to her family. Mom was our family historian, the organizer of our annual "Bidlo" picnics, and the official picture taker to capture those special moments growing up. Following in the tradition of a Chicagoan, she was a great Chicago sports fan. She was a wonderful mom and grandma and will be remembered for her sweetness, her kindness and her feisty spirit. Rest in Peace, Mom, we love you. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Lewy Body Dementia, www.lbda.org.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL 60706. A service will take place at noon at the funeral home followed by a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove for Burial. For info 708-456-8300 or
