Officer Paul D. Eckinger, DSN 0365, originally started his career with the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department as a police cadet on July 29, 1974. After a short period of training, he started in the 9th district on August 26, 1974. Officer Eckinger received his commission on August 4th, 1975 and started the police academy. Through his career, Officer Eckinger was assigned to the following districts and specialized units: the 1st, Mobile Reserve Section; the 4th, Correspondence Investigative Division (C.I.D.); and finally, the Warrant and Fugitive Section. Officer Eckinger retired on August 14, 2000 after 26.05 years of faithful and dedicated service to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

After his retirement from the Saint Louis Police Department, Officer Eckinger continued his law enforcement career with the Saint Louis County Police Department, having a new DSN of 3307. Officer Eckinger served from September 11, 2000 to March 28, 2019 and was in the Division of Patrol-Affton Precinct, Division of Criminal Investigation-Domestic Violence Unit, and Division of Patrol-West County Precinct.

Dearest father of Stephanie (Jim Lewis), Jill (Nate Kinstlinger), Paul (fiancé Julianna Zimmerman) and Christine (Dave Hynes) Eckinger. Loving grandpa of Van, Evie, Mac and Kate Kinstlinger, Dave, Dominic and Andrew Hynes. Dear brother of Susan (Matt) Lynch. Our dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Dearest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. and Julia A. Eckinger.

Paul proudly served as a Police Officer for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for 26 years and St. Louis County Police Department for 18 years, 6 months, and 17 days.
