Donald was born January 25, 1935, in Cairo to Herbert Willis and Alma Williford (Clanton) Johnson. He married Laura Kerley on August 23, 1953, and they shared 68 years of love and memories together.
He was a retired Iron Worker with Local 782 in Paducah. Donald served four years in the Air Force and was an Airman 1st Class. He was a lifetime member of Cairo Masonic Lodge and a member and Deacon at Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center. He loved fishing, golfing, bowling, but most important, was his love for his family and his wife, Laura.
Donald is survived by his wife, Laura Johnson of Cairo; daughter, Donna L. (Kenny) White of Corinth, Mississippi; son, Gregory W. Johnson of Paducah, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jennifer, Bethany, Bradley, Brian, Heidi, and Ben; twelve great grandchildren; and his sister, Catherine Notheis of St. Louis, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, William Johnson, Charles Johnson, Peggy Keith, Richard Johnson, and Roy Johnson.
Funeral services for Donald E. Johnson will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center with Rev. Larry Potts officiating. Masonic rites will be accorded at 1:30 pm by the Cairo Masonic Lodge #237. Interment will follow at Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Illinois.
