He is interred in lair G104 alongside his wife, their daughters Christina, Jeanie and Isabella, their son John and their stillborn child.

Her husband purchased lairs G104 and G105 on 25 January 1884. There are no interments in lair G105. James stated he was a warehouseman and was residing at 173 Reidvale Street, Dennistoun, Glasgow at the time of purchase.

There is a note on the gravestone of the death of their son Robert. He is interred in Baghdad.
