A funeral service for Ronald Roy Potter, 57, of Coos Bay, will be held at 1p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at Dunes Memorial Chapel, 2300 Frontage Road, Reedsport. A private burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A reception for family and friends will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Eagles Lodge in Reedsport.

Ron was born on April 3, 1950, in Coos Bay, the son of Roy and Mary (Karavanich) Potter. He died on July 8, 2007, due to an ATV accident.

He was raised in Coos Bay and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1968. He married Ronda Potter on May 5, 2001 and they had one son, Austin.

Ron worked as a shipbuilder. He was a welder and fitter in many ship yards. His last job was with Fred Wahl Marine, in Reedsport.

He loved hunting, fishing and camping in the outdoors. He was very creative and loved children.

Ron is survived by his wife, Ronda; son, Austin; sister Linda Dean and husband, Jerry; brothers, Tony Anusich and wife, Phyllis and Bob Potter and wife, Marty; and special nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Annie Frost and Kate Colton.
