Born in Weatherly on Jan. 6, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John and Mathilda (Neidlinger) O'Donnell and spent the past 42 years in Hazleton after moving from Weatherly.
Dorothy was a deli clerk for Giant and Tops IGA, both in Hazleton. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hazleton. She enjoyed puzzle books, watching game shows and the cooking channel.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Walter F. Ackers; brothers, John and David O'Donnell; and a sister, Edna O'Donnell.
Surviving are three children, Joan Hockenbury and husband, Ken, Swoyersville; Lynn Halechko and husband, Dana, Drums; and Walter J. Ackers, Hazleton; two grandchildren, Stephanie Quinn and James Quinn and wife, Rachael; two stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, William O'Donnell, North Carolina; and Robert O'Donnell, Weatherly; a sister, Marion O'Donnell, Fountain Hill; many nieces and nephews; and close family friends, Arthur, Sharon and Arthur Burns Jr., Hazleton.
