He married Estella Jane Hersom on 28 January 1899 at Pocahontas, Iowa. They were the parents of two children, Merle Lottie Marie Alexander and Maynard Arthur Alexander. The marriage ended in divorce and his wife then married Oliver Clifton Pence and lived in Omaha. Robert Edmond Alexander died 26 November 1964 at
Bennet, Lancaster County, Nebraska.
