Gary Michael Eckert, 76, of Cortland, NY passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on July 19, 2021.

Gary was born on January 10th, 1945 in Saint Marys, Pennsylvania, to Gerard Lawrence Eckert and Verna Anna (Yourns) Eckert. Gary graduated from Williamsport High School as a machinist. He served in the Army Reserves for seven years, earning the Rifle Marksmanship Badge of Sharp Shooter. Gary earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Teaching at Penn State University. He had a long career as a manufacturing engineer. He returned to his passion of teaching and taught technology at the William George Agency before retiring.

Gary loved spending time with his family more than anything else. He was an avid fan at his grandchildren's sporting events. He also enjoyed riding his bike, taking walks, and swimming. Gary loved music and dancing. He was a vocalist and bass guitarist in the bands "The Unknowns" and "The Cyclones".

He is survived by his loving wife....; his daughters ....., grandchildren ..... and great-granddaughter ...... He is also survived by his siblings .........
Calling hours will be held at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home in Cortland, NY, on Wednesday, July 21st from 5-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Anthony's Church on Thursday, July 22nd at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
