Marilyn Faye (Krick) Auen, age 79, of Pharr, TX., passed away on March 14, 2018 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital with her husband, Richard by her side following a brief illness. Marilyn was born to Roy Krick and Arretta Anna (Fenn) Krick on February 28, 1939 in Schaller, IA. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist church and graduated from Schaller Community School in 1957.

Richard Lee Auen, age 81, of Pharr, TX. passed away on March 17, 2018 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. Richard was born to Richard Auen Sr. and Matilda (Dressen) Auen on March 5, 1937 near Denison, IA. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served for four years.

Richard and Marilyn were married on March 27, 1960 in Schaller, IA. Their union was blessed with two children, Jason Lee Auen and Jodi Anne Auen. Richard was involved in farming for many years near Galva, Schaller and Denison, IA. He also drove a truck for Farmland Foods for many years until his retirement. Marilyn was a wonderful homemaker, devoted wife, and loving mother.

In retirement, they enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and especially spending time with friends and family. They became permanent snow birds in Texas, but always found time to travel to Iowa once a year to attend family reunions.

Richard and Marilyn were preceded in death by their daughter, Jodi; their parents, Richard and Matilda Auen and Roy and Arretta Anna Krick; and Richard's siblings, Jack, Arnold, Margret, Edna and Emogene.

Survivors include Marilyn's sisters, Sharalyn Flem of Barnesville, MN. And Karen Otto-Schmidt (Dan) of Cherokee, IA; Richard's brothers, Herb, Wally, and Ivan; and many other relatives and friends

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm, on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church 3707 W. University Dr. in Edinburg. Burial will be held at a later date in Iowa. Services are entrusted to Aurora Funeral Home Sam Houston of Pharr.
