Byrd (Bird) H. Ford, son of Rev War veteran, Elisha Ford, and Rebecca Haley of Virginia married married Louisa Colley,in Halifax Co VA on Nov 7, 1833. They moved to Alabama between 1848-56. They had at least nine children. Byrd and wife, Louisa, are buried in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery also known as Footpad Cemetery. Byrd was a grandson of Henry and Frances Ford of Colonial Virginia.
Byrd H Ford is best known for his founding of the Mounted Alabama Home Guard. He was a member of the Roanoke No. 132 Chapter of the Freemasons of Alabama.
