Big Funeral For Jerry Maher

Sunday's Democrat and Chronicle contained the following account of the funeral of Jerry Maher, who died Tuesday of last week at his home in Rush and who was buried Saturday noon in the family, lot in St. Rose's cemetery, Lima.

What is thought to have been the most largely attended funeral ever conducted in Rush, took place Saturday for Jerry Maher, 54, prominent farmer. Eight members of the Catholic clergy from out of town attended the Solemn requiem high mass in St. Joseph's church, with Rev. J. M. Cluney of Honeoye Falls as celebrant.

Rt. Rev. John Francis O'Hern, bishop of Rochester,and his brother, Rev. Thomas O'Hern of Buffalo, were among those attending. Other Catholic clergymen were, Rev. John Farrell of, Lima, as deacon, Rev. P. A. Novillo of East Bloomfield, as sub-deacon, Rev. Paul Gaffney of Industry, Rev. Patrick Kelley of Penn Yan, Rev. P. J. McArdle of Scottsvllle, and Rev. Gcorge Wolnmann of Rochester. The male quartet of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rochester, assisted in the services.
