Rose "Irene" Wright was born January 7, 1926, at Iola, Kansas, to Floyd H. and Nellie E (Frazell) DeHart. As a youngster Irene moved with her family to Wauneta, Nebraska in 1929. Irene grew up and attended school in Wauneta and Homedale, Idaho, where her family would travel for work during the Great Depression. She finished her senior year of High School in Wauneta, graduating with the Wauneta High School Class of 1943. Irene continued her education in McCook, Nebraska, receiving normal training to become a teacher.

Irene married Robert Loran Wright on August 14, 1943, in Atwood, Kansas. The couple settled on his family's farm northwest of Wauneta, before Loran was inducted into the U.S. Army in May of 1945. After his discharge in August of 1946, Irene and Loran moved to the Art Luhrs farm north of Enders, Nebraska, where they lived for a short time. They then moved to the Arch Leopold farm south of Palisade, Nebraska. In 1964, they moved to the Rufus Lentz farm where the couple resided until retirement in 1985. Irene and Loran made Palisade there home for many years.

Irene was a member of the United Methodist Church of Palisade, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and the "Knit Wits" sewing group. Irene enjoyed crocheting, gardening, raising flowers, and working in her yard. Irene loved to fish with Loran and complete the finishing work on his woodworking projects. Irene never missed coffee time at the Palisade COOP, if she could help it.
