Clyde Eugene Peay was born on April 16, 1910 in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, the son of James Franklin Peay (1878–1956) and Maywood (Walker) Peay (1883–1970).

He was married on November 1, 1946 in Smith County, Tennessee to Thelma "Louise" Wilson (1909-2001), the daughter of Bunyan Roe Wilson Sr (1880–1941) and his 2nd wife Nallie/Nellie Nomia (Denney) (Trousale) Wilson (1886–1912).

Living on Tinnon Road in Goodlettsville, Davidson County, Tennessee, Clyde was 69 years old and married when he passed away on June 2, 1979 at Saint Thomas Hospital, Nashville.

Survivors included his widow Louise Wilson Peay of Goodlettsville, daughters Mrs Nallie Louise Smith at Madison, Tennessee and Mrs Cathy Isabell in Goodlettsville, three grandchildren, brothers Paul Peay and Bill Peay of Goodlettsville and a devoted female friend Irene Jackson in Nashville.

Graveside Services were held on June 5th in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Nashville, with employees of West Meade Decorating Company serving as Honorary Pallbearers.
