Alwood Hilman "Al" Aamodt, a very long-time resident of Deer Park, WA, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2007. He is the stepfather of Norman (Debbie) Merkel of Orient, WA; Charlene (Skip) Knight of Spokane Valley; Tricia (Tim) Roloff of Kennewick, WA; Pamela (Ron) Neu of Elk, WA; and Chris (Mike) Fry of Liberty Lake, WA. Al is a brother-in-law to Ann and Booth Cameron of Deer Park; Don and Ruth Smith of Cheney, WA; and Tom and Mary Rinhart of Alabama. There are numerous cousins. His dear wife Alice passed away in May of 2004. Born in Drayton, Pembia County, ND in 1930, Al attended Deer Park Grade School, graduated from Deer Park High School in the late 1940's, and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1950. He saw combat action in the Korean Conflict from 1951 through 1952. He and his parents owned a corner store in Deer Park, he was a Tidewater Petroleum distributor for many years, and he was manager of Deer Park True Value Hardware, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3067 in Deer Park. Funeral Services honoring Al will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 2, 2008, in Deer Park at the Open Door Congregational Church, directed by the LAUER FUNERAL HOME IN DEER PARK, WA. A long-time friend and neighbor, Rev. Dr. Daniel N. Berg, will officiate, and interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Deer Park. Flag presentation and military honors will be rendered by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard, Spokane, WA.
