Nathan Earl Thompson, 79, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away January 20, 2022 following a brief illness. He was born December 13, 1942, the son of Fred and Nora (Tarpley) Thompson. Nathan grew up in Woodriver, Illinois and graduated high school in 1961. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded two purple hearts. Nathan worked as a truck driver for several companies. He drove a city bus in Tulsa for 12 years and he ended his driving career as a Checotah School bus driver. He was very active in the Democrat Party holding various positions locally.
Nathan was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Kuehnel and two previous wives, Alberta Thompson and Barbara Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Judy Thompson; sons Daniel Thompson and wife Julie of Delaware, David Thompson and wife Tara of Illinois and David Henderson of Eufaula; daughters, Linda Thompson of Oregon, Melinda and husband Doug Lindsey of Illinois, Michele Thompson and John of Illinois, Kathleen Horton and her husband Gerald of Checotah; brother, Gerald Thompson of Pennsylvania and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
