Elmore lived a full life. He enlisted in the United States Navy and entered boot camp at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve in New Orleans in the summer of 1956. He returned to Vacherie, completed 12th Grade and graduated from St. James High School in 1957. He went on to active duty where he was stationed at Cecil Field, FL. He served aboard the USS Saratoga aircraft carrier on her first Mediterranean cruise in 1958 as an AO3 (E-4) Aviation Ordnanceman in the Strike Fighter Squadron VFA31 "Tomcatters". When the ship was docked in Cannes, France, Elmore was stationed in port as an Interpreter. He remained on active duty until 1962. Elmore was employed for 17 years at the American Can Co. in New Orleans, LA. and 5 years at AMAX Nickel Refinery in Braithwaite, LA. Additionally, he worked at Hoover Vacuum Co. in Metairie, LA.
Visitation will be held at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr., Metairie, LA. 70002 on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 am. The Memorial Mass of Celebration begins at 12 noon. Interment follows at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.
