Leo Stenzel, 89, of Loveland passed away December 20, 2007.

He was born April 24, 1918 to Henry and Molly Schneider Stenzel near WaKeeney, Kansas.

He married Wanda Pafford of Omaha, Nebraska on June 7, 1942.

He served in the Army from 1939 until 1943. Upon Honorable Discharge he moved to Fremont, Nebraska where he farmed until 1945. He became a police officer in Fremont from 1945 until 1950. Leo worked for the Maytag Company for 30 years.

Upon his retirement he moved to Red Feathers Lake, Colorado in 1980 where he became the lake warden and served until 1985. He moved to Loveland in 1985.

He loved to fish, do woodworking, golf and be with his family and many friends in Loveland.

Survivors include four sons, Richard and his wife Betty of Loveland , Dennis and his wife Amber of Omaha, Dwight of Omaha, Dean and his wife Lis of San Diego, California; one daughter Nancy Dokulil and her husband Tom of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesot; two brothers Sam Stenzel of Ottawa, Ks, Henry Stenzel of Dodge City, Ks; and one sister, Esther Mellies of Dodge City, Ks; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, six brothers and two sisters.

A celebration service of his life will be at 11 a.m. January 12, 2008 at the Allnutt Funeral Service.

Inurnment will be in the Loveland Burial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Larimer County in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.
