Obit: Henry Bruce Winfrey, age 94, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away April 10, 2006 in Carrollton, Missouri, after a long illness. Bruce was born February 2, 1912 in Bosworth, Missouri, the son of Ruben and Emma Lauck Winfrey. He attended Bosworth Schools. Bruce spent most of his life farming. On March 18, 1935 he married Jewell Finley in Carrollton. She survives of the home. Bruce was a member of the Hurricane Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Bruce and Wauneta Winfrey of Gravois Mills, Missouri and Glen Leroy and Leola Winfrey of Stuttgart, Arkansas, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, one half-sister, Jean Mongold, two half-brothers, Sam and Charley Winfrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Jim, Bill, Claude, Ted, Walter, Virgil (Babe), three sisters, Pauline Collum, Esther Nowland and Dorothy Henderson and one half-brother, John Winfrey. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial was in Wharton Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Foundation in memory of Mr. Winfrey.
