James Dillard Johnson, 87 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1934 in Gainesboro to the late James Carmon and Ledy Margaret (Medlin) Johnson.

Dillard developed a great work ethic being the oldest child growing up working on a farm. He worked at various factories before retiring from Fleetguard with over 35 years of service. He was known for being a hard worker and a good friend. After retirement, he enjoyed having breakfast with his friends at McDonald's and Hardees. He enjoyed golf and watching UT football and basketball. He loved to talk about his family and his grandchildren.

Dillard leaves behind his wife: Linda (Jolly) Johnson; daughters: Linda (Pete) Issitt and Vicki (Jeff) Mills; grandchildren: Adam and Catie LaFever, Kaylee and Kurt Zollner, Andrew and Libby Issitt, and Ian Issitt; great-grandchildren: Will and Jack Issitt; sister: Nell Farmer; stepdaughters: Nancy (Reggie) Seay and Susan (Greg) Carr; step- grandchildren: Bryce and Olivia Carr, Vivian and Myra Seay.

In addition to his parents, Dillard was preceded in death by sisters: Polly Taylor and Sue Hightower; brothers: David, Ted, and Danny Johnson.

Funeral Service for James Dillard Johnson will be held Monday, February 14, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Clarence Deloach officiating. Entombment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery - Mausoleum.
