Flora Richmond Layed [sic] to Rest Last Thursday - Flora Jane Van was born at Litchfield, Nebraska, April 18, 1895, and departed this life on August 20, 1933, age 38 years, 4 months and 2 days. She and her only sister Ann, were raised from childhood by their grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Cornford, due to the early death of their parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Van. She was united in marriage to Seth H. Richmond on May 19, 1915, and to this union two children were born, Seth Van and Betty Ann, the former having preceeded [sic] her in death on December 10, 1918. She leaves to mourn her loss her sister Ann of Loup City, Nebraska; her husband and little daughter six years of age, both of Chicago, Illinois, where she reside the past four years, a large number of relatives and a host of friends. The deceased is a member of the Presbyterian church of Litchfield, Nebraska, having united therewith in childhood and for a number of years was active in the work of the church and Sunday school and a member of Aster Chapter No. 258 Order of the Eastern Star and formerly served as Worthy Matron. Her faithful service in the work of the Church and Lodge bespeak her love of it. She was highly devoted to her family, a tender loving wife and mother continually sacrificing her welfare for the benefit of others. The deceased is the granddaughter of the late George Van, a veteran of the Civil War and one of the early pioneers of this country, who preceeded her to life's great reward by but a few days. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church, Thursday, August 24, Rev. A. W. Johnson, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating.
