San Jose Evening News, Feb. 24, 1902. "The death in this city yesterday of Lyddall Bacon marks the passing of an old and highly esteemed citizen of San Jose. Mr. Bacon was born in Frankfort, Ky., in May 1830. He crossed the plains to California in 1852 and located in Sacramento, and for a number of years he was engaged in mining in that section of the State. In 1853, Mr. Bacon was married at MacDowell Hill, near Sacramento, to Jane Lehella McGrew. He came to San Jose in 1872, where he has since resided. Mr. Bacon suffered a slight stroke of paralysis a year ago, and has since been an invalid, residing with his son, C. H. Bacon, at 606 Marliere street. He was taken ill a few days ago and yesterday had a stroke of apoplexy and passed away. His wife died a number of years ago."

San Jose Evening News, Feb. 24, 1902. "BACON—In San Jose, Feb. 23, 1902, Lyddall Bacon, father of Mrs. H. G. Keesling, Mrs. Emma Decker, J. E., Charles, and Frank Bacon and brother of G. C. Bacon, a native of Kentucky, aged 72 years."

San Jose Evening News, Feb. 25, 1902. "Lyddall Bacon, who died on Sunday, was buried from the residence of his brother G. C. Bacon on Marliere street. ... He was interred at Oak Hill."
