Mrs. Emily Gaither, aged 88 years, a beloved and venerated woman, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. B. Anderson, Wednesday morning. She possessed unusual intellect and charm and was loved devotedly by all who knew her. She was the daughter of the late Elijah Hutchinson, of this place and the widow of Captain Edgar Gaither, who distinguished himself during the war with Mexico. Her funeral was held at the Christian church, of which she had long been a devoted member, on Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. Horace Kingsbury, of Lexington, a former pastor here, conducting the services, as Rev. Simpson is ill. The interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Gaither is survived by three children, Col. E. H. Gaither and Mrs. M. B. Anderson, of this city, and Mr. George Gaither, of Mexico City, Mexico.
