Donald worked as a press operator for Arvin Meritor for 42 years before retiring in 2000. He served in the National Guard and was a member of the First Christian Church in North Vernon. Donald enjoyed watching TV, fishing, reading the Bible, playing horseshoes, puzzle books and taking walks.
Surviving with his wife, Frances; is his daughter, Karen (Robert) Brooks of North Vernon; grandchildren, Tim (Tae) Graper and Robert Brooks, both of Texas; Antonio (Morgan) Terranova of Hayden, Autumn (James) Hood and Amanda Moore, both of North Vernon, and Cassandra Hughes and Tabitha Palmer, both of Missouri; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy James Graper; daughter, Melissa Sampson; brothers, Ralph, Kenny and Ernie Graper; sisters, Marilyn Herr and Judy Miller; grandchild, Robert Palmer; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Donald will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Anthony Sweeney officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery
