Samuel Edgar Anderson, Jr., 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, December 10, 2007, at Skylyn Place.

Born September 26, 1922, in Iva, SC, and reared in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Samuel Edgar Anderson, Sr. and Louise Elizabeth (Jackson) Anderson and the husband of the late Eleanor "Sis" Gilliam Anderson.

A graduate of Spartanburg High School and a 1943 graduate of the Citadel, he was a retired internal auditor with Reeves Brothers, Inc. after 35 years of service.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, a former member of the Executive Sertoma Club and the Spartanburg Sertoma Club, and a member of the Spartanburg Amateur Radio Club. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, he was part of the force that liberated the allied prisoners in Japan, and was also a retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Survivors include two daughters, Reid Glaze and her husband Dargan of Frederick, MD, and Jean Anderson of Orlando, FL; and five grandsons, Reid Williams, Blake Williams, Chad Williams, John Glaze, and David Glaze.

Visitation was 12:30-1:30 PM Friday, December 14, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services followed at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Mr. Scott Neely.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Thornwell Home for Children, PO Box 60, Clinton, SC 29325; or to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
