Gladys M. Sterr, 86, of 10241 Timothy St., formerly of McCook, Neb., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of local arrangements.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1921, in Indianola, Neb., daughter of Omar Harrison Harned and Grace (Hartley) Harned. She married Leland D. Sterr on Aug. 16, 1948; he preceded her in death in Jan. 6, 1995.

Her hobbies included bowling, gardening and watching sports on ESPN. She especially loved watching PGA golf. While residing in Dubuque, Gladys made many friends at Cozy Corner Adult Day Care and Home Instead In-Home Care. She will be greatly remembered by her beautiful smile and her love for small children.

Surviving are four children, Ron and Mari Sterr, of Dubuque, with whom she had resided for the last two years, Bob and Debra Neimeier, of Omaha, Neb., Don and Ruth Ann Ruby, of Tahlequah, Okla., and Linda Bennett, of Farmington, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Gaylord and Dale Harned; and a sister, Lolita.
