Virginia was the daughter of Frank William (b. 6/24/1889, IN; d. 2/3/1979, FL) and Bernice Ophelia (Magee) Guy (b. 1893; d. 5/30/1975, FL). Virginia was born in Warsaw, Wayne Twp., Kosciusko Co., IN. She first married Donald Lloyd Abair in April 1943 in Texas. Donald was an officer and top bombardier in his graduating class and in training in Texas prior to being sent overseas. He was assigned to the 15th Army Air Force, 460th Bomb Group, 763rd Bomb Squad stationed in Spinazzola, Italy. His bomber collided with another from his squadron over Italy on April 5, 1944 and all airmen on both bombers died, 20 airmen in all. Virginia and Donald had one child, Lance Donald Abair. Donald married Linda Lee Berg. Lance is a musician as is his daughter Mindi Abair.
Virginia married Richard Paul Rice and they had a daughter Rebecca Jo, born about 1947, who married Thomas Herschel James, Jr. on January 24, 1970, Florida. Richard had been a military officer and was later a civilian flying instructor for the Air Force. He died in a plane crash while training a student in Florida on March 5, 1954. Virginia again remarried, this time to Gilbert Corey Mills on November 25, 1955. They divorced on July 8, 1970, Pinellas Co., FL. Gilbert remarried just a couple months later to Bernadine Ann Cleesattle in October 1970. Virginia's obituary refers to her as Virginia A. Rice.
