Margaret "Mike" Ernesti age 90 of West Point, NE passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. Joseph's Hillside Villa in West Point, NE.

Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Nielsen Community Center.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret "Mike" Ernesti age 90 of West Point, NE will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Matt Niggemeyer and Fr. Gerry Gonderinger celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Nielsen Community Center. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, with a Vigil Service at 5:00 p.m., and will continue after 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family suggests memorials be directed to the John A. Stahl Library, West Point Community Theatre, Guardian Angels Preschool, or St. Joseph's Hillside Villa.

Margaret Joan (Lannan) Ernesti was born on September 25, 1931 at West Point, NE to John Phillip "Phil" and Josephine "Babe" (Pipp) Lannan. As the youngest of four siblings, Mike spent a lot of time with her father who nicknamed her "Mickey" which later was shortened to Mike. Her Dad got her involved in 4-H showing pigs, working for him at the Rivola Theatre and Y-Knot Drive-In, and helping him at the dance hall, which became todays Community Theatre. She graduated from Guardian Angels High School in 1949. She attended Duchesne Academy Finishing School in Omaha, NE, before going on to obtain her B.A. in Home Economics and Early Childhood Development from Iowa State University. She work in St. Louis for a while before returning home.

On June 23, 1956, she was united in marriage to Thomas Ernesti at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE. After Tom graduated from Creighton School of Pharmacy, they returned to West Point, NE. Tom worked for Harry Sass at Sass Drug Store and Mike filled in as a substitute kindergarten teacher at West Point Elementary for a short time before starting a family. Her love for children led her to become active in the EVARC organization, as a Brownie Troop leader, a 4-H leader, and helping at the library with Story Hour. She later ran a preschool learning program once a week in her home. Tom and Mike purchased the drug store from Henry Sass in 1969 and Mike started working at the store. Later in life she enjoyed volunteering by reading at Story Hour, helping in the kindergarten classroom at GA, and doing a shift every year in the 4-H building. She was an avid reader and bridge player belonging to several bridge groups. Mike was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Guild and St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary. Mike loved watching and listening to all Husker sports as well as Creighton basketball.

Ashley (Griffin) Jadwin and son Carter of Papillion, NE
Brittney (Adam) Kovar and children Jackson and Annabelle of Lincoln, NE
Zachary (Onna) Ernesti of Lincoln, NE
Sister-Betty Amento of Scottsdale, AZ
Several nieces and nephews also survive her.

Mike was preceded in death by her parents-John and Babe Lannan, husband-Tom Ernesti, brother-Jack Lannan and sister-Patricia Piccolo.
