George W. Kniss, when 24 years old, enlisted on 10/30/1861 as a Sergeant. On 12/13/1861 he mustered into "C" Co. OH 68th Infantry. Promotions: 2nd Lieut 11/25/1861, 1st Lieut 2/24/1863, Capt 6/16/1865 (As of Co. H). Intra Regimental Company Transfer on 6/16/1865 reassigned him from company C to company H. He was Mustered Out on 7/10/1865 at Louisville, KY.
