It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend, LEANDRO ANTHONY CASTILLO, 36, of Las Cruces on Friday, February 11, 2011 at University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He was born June 2, 1974 in Silver City to Daniel Joseph Castillo and Margaret Bencomo. Leandro was a cook and a communicant at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral.

Those left to mourn his passing include two sons, Rion And Shawn Castillo both of Tucson, Arizona; his father, Daniel "Jody" Castillo, his mother, Margaret Hernandez and husband Nick all of Las Cruces; two brothers, Gabriel Castillo and companion Vanessa of Las Cruces, Daniel "Dino" Castillo of Lordsburg; four sisters, Michelle Castillo of Pasco, Washington, Jodie Castillo and companion Louie Delgado, Jennifer Castillo all of Las Cruces, Kendra Baldonado and husband Mike of Albuquerque and Jenny Padilla of Tucson, mother of his sons. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Pedro and Eloisa Bencomo; his paternal grandparents, Leandro and Maria Castillo.

Visitation for Leandro will begin at 6 PM Monday, February 14, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together the celebrate the Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina with Reverend Sean Garrity officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.

Serving as casket bearers will be Gabriel and Dino Castillo, Richard Marquez, Louie Delgado, Mike Baldonado and Nick Hernandez. Honorary bearers will be Benjie Valles, Mike Lopez, Artie Morales, Johnny Arroyo and his remaining friends.
