Martha (Zalman) Vasek, 93, of Pearland, Texas entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, January 28, 2022.

Martha was born in Fayetteville, Texas on April 5, 1928, the daughter of the late Kristina (Kolodejcek) and Jochim Zalman.

She attended St. John Hackerbiel and Fayetteville High School.

Martha married the love of her life, Daniel Anton Vasek on June 28, 1948 in La Grange, Texas. They were blessed to have shared fifty-three years of marriage as husband and wife.

She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell (AT&T) until she retired.

Martha was a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and a member of St. Helen Catholic Church of Pearland. She was an avid and knowledgable fan of the Houston Astros.

She is survived by one brother in law Anton T. (Tom) Vasek, one sister in law, Mary Jane Darnell, four nephews: Richard Zalman, Jerry Zalman, Barry Vasek, and Jonathan Darnell,; four nieces: Lisa Kana, Meg Brown, Allison Groppe, and Jennifer Darnell; special cousins A.J. and Rosie Hrbacek; her sister in Christ, Rosemary Marmolejo who lovingly cared for Martha during the end of her life. Martha loved her like a daughter; faithful caregivers: Susan Pierce and Pat Paider; and her special neighbor, Alice Garza.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel Anton Vasek;, one sister, Emma Zalman Meyer and husband, Robert; five brothers: Alfred Zalman and wife, Marie and their daughter, Patricia Zalman; Robert Zalman and wife, Sue; Emil Zalman; Laddie Zalman; and Jerry Zalman and wife, Irene and their children: Richard Zalman, Robert Zalman and Diana Zalman, sister in law Margaret Wood, and niece Laurann Vasek.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn, TX. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow the Holy Rosary at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Felix Twumasi officiating. Burial will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
