He graduated from Clemson University in 1950 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and later received a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech).
He served active duty in the Air Force as a commissioned officer, and later served as a civilian federal employee for the Air Force as his career.
He and his wife, married in Ohio in 1968, had lived in St. Petersburg, FL, since 1986.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, and was predeceased by six siblings Inez, Beatrice (Bob), Ada, Rufus, Frank, and Roy.
Also survived by a niece and thirteen nephews.
