GALVESTON — Carl J. "Coonrod" Pittman, 70, Kokomo, died 5:42 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo. Born Jan. 16, 1936, in Lebanon, Ky., he was the son of Val and Ellen (Garrett) Pittman. He first married Mary Elliot on Dec. 19, 1954. They later divorced, and she survives. On Dec. 20, 1975, he married Carol (Brooks) Pittman, and she survives.

He retired from Haynes International in 1998 after 30 years of service.

He enjoyed basketball, football and planting his garden, but his favorite hobby was fishing and playing the guitar.

Other survivors include daughter Frances Andreas, Kokomo; sons William Carl and wife Debbie Pittman, Ocala, Fla., Harold and wife Dede Pittman, Lebanon, Ky., Jerry and wife Sandy Pittman, Hugh Allen Pittman, all of Kokomo, and Mike and Lisa Pittman, Galveston; and daughters Ferna Miller and companion Kenny Canady, and Carla McCombs and companion Chris Vest, all of Kokomo; grandchildren Dannie and wife Ruthann Scott, Billy and wife Jeannie Pittman, Debra Pittman, Heather Pittman, Stefan Andreas, Anthony Pittman, Josh Pittman, Christopher Bowen, Destiny Pittman, Justin Pittman, Cheyenne McCombs, Brandon McCombs, Ty Miller and Hannah Pittman; great-grandchildren Alyxandria Scott, Bryce Scott, Brayden Pittman and Alex and Delani Pittman; brothers Joe and wife Lorene Pittman, Manual Pittman, David Pittman, Don V. Pittman, Hugh Pittman, Roger Pittman and Randy Pittman, all of Lebanon, Ky.; and sisters Mary Votaw, Gladys and husband Jimmy George, Emma and husband Mitchell Perkins and Thelma and Butch Votaw, all of Lebanon, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harry B. Pittman.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston Chapel, 401 S. California St., with sister Nettie Evans presiding. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
