George Herbert, An Old Resident Taken in Death

George E. Herbert, 66 years old, for 59 years a resident of Cowley count, most of that time in Arkansas City, died at 8:30 o'clock this morning in Stricklen hospital. He had been ill since Christmas. Mr. Herbert, a native of Illinois, came to this county in 1871 and had since been in and near this city. The family home now is two miles east of the city, on East Chestnut Heights. Mr. Herbert was a carpenter by trade, and also farmed in various sections here, for many years.

Surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Marie Herbert, his aged mother, Mrs. Sarah Herbert, of this city; a sister, Mrs. Ella Park, of east of the city; three brothers, Eugene A. Herbert, Apperson, Okla.; Elmer R. Herbert, Kaw City, Okla., and Roy Herbert, Arkansas City.

Funeral services are to be held at 2:30 Monday afternoon in the Grant Funeral Home. Rev. S.W. Keller will officiate. Burial will be in Parker cemetery, near the family residence, east of the city.
