The funeral of J. W. Higgs was held at the family residence Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, being conducted by Rev. J. S. Baird, assisted by Rev. A. N. Goforth. The remains were laid to rest in the Denison Cemetery.

Mr. Higgs was one of the pioneer newspaper men of this county and was an able writer. His long residence an among us enabled him to enjoy the acquaintance of a great number of the people around Haworth, who were grieved to learn of his death and who extend sympathy to the bereaved relatives and friends.
