Born to a second-generation Italian family and raised in IL, Irene graduated from Blackburn College, received a B.A. and an M.A. from Univ. of Illinois. She taught at Pekin (IL) High School, and was a Professor of English at the University of Dayton before retiring to raise a family. Irene was married in 1943 to Cyril G. Peckham, who preceded her in death in 1991. They have two children, Joan (Bill) Korber, and Richard (Vickie) Peckham, six grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Irene was a long-time TOPS Club member, an avid bridge player and stamp collector, a Girl Scout leader and volunteered for many years at St. Albert's Church in Kettering, OH. She and her husband traveled the world and enjoyed square dancing and socializing with their many friends.
Irene was a wonderful, kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed. We love you!
